This painting is part of the body of works created during my Ballet Des Moines Artist Residency. Professional Dancer, Amelia Grubb, of Ballet Des Moines portrayed the part of the Wicked Queen/Step-Mother in their production and performance of Snow White.

Two scenes are represented here in separate colors. During rehearsals, Amelia collaborated with myself and Manibus to create this translation. The first of the two scenes is shown in the blue-violet as the Queen makes an entrance personifying her character to the audience. The second scene is represented in gray and was recorded as she lurks mysteriously behind a
translucent screen that hazily separates her from the audience. Juxtaposing the two layers shows the similarities and differences in the movement and dynamics within the two choreographed parts.
