Movement Manifesto

This digital interactive art installation uses custom-coded software to track movement via webcam and represent a participant's path as a string of text.

Movement Manifesto is a custom-coded interactive art system that uses an overhead webcam to track movement. The path of a participant determines the path of the text and the speed of their movement determines the text size projected on screen. There is an "erase" button that can be pressed to start over with a blank projection. The application is programmed to read the text aloud as it appears on the screen.

I asked ChatGPT to compose an artist manifesto combining @jerrysaltz tweets and @jennyholzerstudio truisms. The resulting manifesto is drawn onto a digital projection using custom software that tracks a participants movement via webcam and computer vision. The speed of movement changes the scale of the font in real-time as the words flow out across the screen following the location of the participant within the space. A text-to-speech computer voice reads each word as it is summoned in often overlapping audio.
