The Body Electric on SoundCloud

In this collaborative performance, I worked with dancer and choreographer Lovar Davis Kidd to create a live performance that accompanied an in-person screening of my short film, Sapient_2.021, at the FilmScene as part of their Science on Screen programming supported by the Alfred Sloan Foundation. The Body Electric harnessed and translated the dance movement using a cell phone accelerometer and midi-controller rings worn by Kidd. As the technologist, Tate mapped sounds for audio output and served as the Manibus (custom painting robot) handler to also paint an abstract, translated version of the movement.
